Camping Colorado Front Range

Colorado!! I live here! now i want to see here!!!?
i have lived in colorado my whole life, yet it seems like ive never really seen the state. ive gone to quite a few places, usually camping or visiting family. But i want to see what more it has to offer. So for my 18th birthday i want to take a week long trip to see the beautiful state i live in. im planning on spending a couple days in boulder (visiting friend @ college and going to pearl street), and a couple in denver (visiting friend and denver art museum) i love all kinds of activities, like nature stuff, museums/galleries, tourist spots etc. i would like to try to stay in a general area, places between grand junction and the front range. (preferably avoid far south and north, and too far east) thanks!!!
Years ago, when I first moved to Colorado, I decided to take a week and travel the State. I was so glad I did; I discovered places I did not even know existed at the time, and then about 20 years ago, when my sons were in grade school still, my husband and I decided to make a similar trip to show our sons what a great state they lived in and all the beautiful places there were to see. Since it sounds like you want to stay in more populated places, I would see some of the things in Denver, like the State Capital Building with its Gold Dome and “Mile High Step”, the Mint, The Botanical Gardens, the Zoo, the Museum of Natural History, the Colorado History Museum, the Butterfly Pavilion in Westminster, Celeste Tea in Boulder, the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, the 16th Street Mall in Denver, there is a beautiful Mountain Drive out of Boulder that will eventually lead into I 70 by taking Hwy 119 up through Netherland and out through Black Hawk to I 70. The trip to Grand Junction is beautiful along I 70. I would be sure to stop in Idaho Springs where there is an Old Gold Mine to tour, and the Indian Hot Springs, Georgetown that has a great narrow gauge train ride up to Silverplume and back, Silverthorne with the Outlet Mall, Vail, and Glenwood Springs which has a Hot Springs Pool. Grand Junction is a beautiful small “City” that always seemed to remind me more of Utah and Arizona than Colorado. You can pick up a “Tour Colorado” Book at the Colorado Tourism Center in downtown Denver while there and I’m sure it will give you even more ideas of places to see and things to do. Personally I think everyone who lives in Colorado should tour the State, they would be so surprised at what all is here and how much history there is in this State. Enjoy your trip, and have fun!!!
