Tips on camping in Eastern Australia?

Me and my dad have plane tickets for Australia this April, and are trying to decide between hotel/motel and renting a camper. Holiday parks seem expensive, but so are hotels. Any advice? Good spots? Good companies?

Camping grounds are expensive especially around the coast . There is a lot of free camping for the night. The roadside rest areas many people pull in for the night I have plenty of times if you can sleep through other cars pulling in through the night it’s good and many have toilets . Your not allowed to camp free in the towns usually so you need to go to a rest area on the highway some maps show you where they are or roadside signs often say next rest area 10 ks etc . some are far better than others and best to pull in before dark so you can pick a good spot. I love it pulling in and cooking dinner and often chatting to others doing the same. Apollo campervans or Britz/maui are good . Wicked campervans are cheapest

Theres some great spots long the coast to pull in for the day sit near a beach . If you get to the GoldCoast choose The Broadwater tourist park or treasure island both expensive though but good for a couple of nights
