One of the great things about Texas camping is that you can go almost any time of year. Since winter weather is normally pretty mild this allows you to fit in some extra camping trips, while their friends in the north, bent down trying to keep warm. Again this year, more than 70 state parks, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department fisheries waive license requirements for families as part of its family of fishermen Celebration. This current promotion has been really nice for families and is designed to encourage more people to go out and enjoy fishing. There are many great camping sites in Texas. In fact, just counting the state parks are more than 70 parks to choose from.This short article briefly describes some of the best campgrounds in North Texas. Each of these campsites is just a short journey from Dallas / Ft Worth, and should provide great fun for you, your family and friends.

Bonham State Park – A park of 261 acres located Fannin County, a little over an hour northeast of Dallas. The park includes a 65-acre artificial lake, rolling meadows and forests. Near the lake, there is a nice park for children, and a large grassy area for throwing frisbees or playing ball. It also has a good swimming area.

Cedar Hill State Park – This 1826 acre park is located on Joe Pool Lake. It has more than 350 mostly wooded campsites. Most of these are a good size and shade shelters cover some of the picnic tables. If you are into boating or water sports, this park is a good option. Located just south of Dallas near Cedar Hill, Texas.

Eisenhower State Park – A park of 423 acres located in Grayson County. This park has much to offer and is only slightly more than one Dallas hour north to Highway 75. Located in the beautiful Lake Texoma, in line with the state of Texas and Oklahoma, this park has many camps of Nice and offers a wide range of family fun activities.

Lake Mineral Wells State Park – A park covering 3282 acres Lake Mineral Wells. The park is located between the feet. Worth and Mineral Wells to the west of the metropolitan area. Texas is blessed with many nice camping areas. I mentioned only a few here, but many more statewide. All parks listed here are just a short drive from Dallas / Ft Valer.
