sleeping on the beach illegal?

is it illegal to sleep on the beach in new jersey? i had planned to camp with my friends one summer night a couple years ago and had heard it is illegal to sleep on new jersey beaches, but i was wondering if there is any confirmed truth to that. anyone know?
how about delaware?

Every town along the New Jersey coast prohibits being on the beach after a certain hour (every town is different). Same goes for the state park and Gateway NRA.

You can sleep very near the beach in Delaware, but not on. In Delaware Seashore State Park, the campground is on the other side of the highway from the beach. You can walk under the highway to the beach. It is illegal to be on the beach after a certain hour in all of the towns, state parks, and unincorporated areas of Sussex County.
