The Louvre

When you begin your holiday camping in France and reached Paris, the first gallery you might want to visit is the Louvre. It is arguably the world's most famous gallery and large size of the building is overwhelming. Exploring the labyrinth of rooms and annexes is a confusing experience, but very nice. More than 35,000 works of painting and sculpture is within, and may spend many days wandering the dark halls of the Louvre and still not scratch the surface.

The architecture of the Louvre is almost as famous as the art it contains. The beveled glass pyramid added in recent years, although the source of much debate, has somehow merged into the landscape of the esplanade and become an integral feature of the much loved building.

Turning on his visit to the Louvre you will see icons such as the Mona Lisa, the exquisite sculptures of the Venus de Milo and Winged Victory. The French are proud of his "resistance", and deserves much more a brief visit to see the collections within their hallowed walls.

Musee d'Orsay

Famous house of great impressionists of France, the Musée d'Orsay is on the left bank, with picturesque views of the city and to the Sacre Coeur. A visit to this beautiful gallery is like walking through the pages of a book of art history, and you will see many works of some of the world's most acclaimed artists, Monet, Renoir, Degas and Cezanne to name a few.

The building where the gallery is housed is an old train station and is so admired as artwork covering the walls everywhere. The high vaulted ceiling glass gives a wonderful diffused light and, on entering, you feel like you're in a giant conservatory.Â

Rodin Museum

Dedicated entirely to the work of artist Auguste Rodin, who once lived in the building that houses the museum. Several years before his death, Rodin put a plan for the State to bequeath his collection of art on the premise that the house became a museum. Unfortunately he died before the plan became a reality, but two years later became a reality.

Rodin was delighted with the house and its beautiful gardens, and filled with his sculptures and other works of art. Everything – even the furniture and ink – is from the personal collection of Rodin, and are the tools of their work and lives.

It is wonderful to walk around the rose gardens that are dotted with many of Rodin's bronze sculptures. His final work where he spent 37 years, "The Gates of Hell", and takes pride of place is an impressive achievement inspire witnesses. But the highlight of a visit to Rodin Museum is to sit in a seat of tranquility in the beautiful gardens and admire perhaps the most exquisite of all the work of Rodin – the pensive "Thinker".
