What’s the best place to go camping in or near Southern California in October?

We want to get away from crowds and into the wilderness, preferable somewhere where we can have a back-country campfire, but not necessary because I don’t know if anywhere allows that… A friend and I want to spend about 4 days in nature writing music and camping.

Fall is Absolutely beautiful up in the High country of san diego. Areas around Julian like Cuyamaca Rancho state park. Or Palomar Mtn state park and the cleavland national forest. laguna Campground
