Camping in western Pa?

I would like to go camping next weekend for my birthday. I live in Pittsburgh and would like to stay within 2 hours from home. I would like to just walk into the woods and pitch a tent, sit by a fire and drink a couple cold ones. I don’t know where I can do this though, any ideas? I was thinking Tionesta but I’ve never been there and would like to know more about it.

My husband and I are campers, and we love to camp at Ohiopyle State Park. We are also from Pittsburgh, and this campground is about an hour and 15 minutes away. We chose this park by examining all the state parks around here pretty closely. Here is the website we used to help us make our decision:

Ohiopyle is nice, especially if you choose a more secluded site. You have more privacy and can’t hear the people around you. They do have a bathroom within walking distance which is also nice.

The only problem you might find is that drinking in Pennsylvania State Parks is illegal. We have always had park rangers walk through and check if we were drinking while camping, because we are in our 20′s. They’ve been pretty strict about it.

If you want to drink, consider heading over the border into Ohio or West Virginia. I don’t know the laws there, but you may be able to drink at campgrounds in those states.
