Flat Tops Wilderness elk hunting?

Hi, I’m trying to do some research on the Flat Tops Wilderness area in the white river national forest, Colorado for elk hunting(2011 2nd rifle). I’m not familiar with the area (coming from Michigan), looking for a camping spot and the best area within the flat tops to camp, hunt and a access into the flat tops and what to expect from this area. I have hunted elk in Idaho for the last 4 years with some susses, so I have all the equipment but no knowledge of this area, like will I need to bring my ATV or just use the truck to get around on the 2 tracks. Any help would be great,thanks.

First off, if you plan to hunt in the wilderness you won’t be using any kind of vehicle except to get to the trailhead. So you can probably leave the ATV (unless you identify another adjacent area outside the wilderness.) Horses or hunting with light back packs might be your best bet if you want to get in very far.

Sorry but no one is going to give away the location of where they think the best place to hunt anything is on the internet (unless they want to stop hunting there??) You just have to get there as far in advance as you can and do your time scouting or go with a local guide of some sort.
