"Why do you want to move to the Pacific Northwest?" I was once asked by phone to my friend back east. "It does not rain there all the time? "I smiled as he looked in the sunlight, trying to answer this question.

The rain seems to be the last thing you think of the picturesque and diverse region of the Pacific Northwest. There is such an abundance of recreation that everyone is too busy planning the activities of the weekend can not even see time on the Internet. Still got me thinking, why all the world we live in the rain?

Surprisingly, the statistics tell us that we rainfall less here than in New York! In fact, some areas of the Pacific Northwest are described as "dry" or "semi-arid '!

Residents, young and old, enjoy the Pacific Northwest to spend much time in the outdoors. The shorts are the norm, even in winter, and the BBQ is always popular. We even have our own style of real estate, known as the West Coast style, full of tall, angular windows and red cedar decks!

Perhaps the residents of one of the reasons that the climate is secondary to us from the Pacific Northwest is because we feel that we have the best of everything. Even in the winter, we ski, snow board and have fun in the snow, and then play the sail, or cruise in the sand, fish, hike and climb mountains – and all on the same day.

Camping and hiking are great favorites here. With the development of giant fir trees overlooking the mountain peaks there is always a good view of the back corner! We have more than our share of mountains (sorry people!) Including Mount Rainier at over 14,000 feet. And five mountain ranges we have four National Parks in the region. For history buffs, we can date back several centuries and still need to explore the buildings that are more than a century old.

If we get tired of rural areas, we are fortunate to have two right-handed North American cities to have fun in Seattle and Portland have everything a person could want, from sports to music to art. The events that are held in this area are varied to mention, but the most famous is the 24th day International Film Festival Seattle.

All sports are well represented in the Pacific Northwest, with Seattle being the first American hockey team to win the coveted Stanley Cup (in 1917).

Just follow the people who want to move here and has kept the population growth of up to – and in fact the estate a good investment. As it focuses on the coast, this is a great place to retire and Seattle is waiting for its share of baby boomers to flock West and push the prices up even further in coming years. (Baby boomers begin to reach retirement age of 65 in 2011, so its not too late for a bargain home!)

If you think we are all outdoor enthusiasts, I must say that Seattle is the most educated in the USA! Almost 50% of our residents over age 25 have at least one grade. Seattle has been classified by the "expansion of the journal to be among the ten best cities to have a favorable climate for business expansion.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention that Seattle is the birthplace of grunge music.
