Camping Ny State

I live in the suburbs of NYC, when is the best time to catch tadpoles and crawfish?

I went camping to upstate NY, (not too far up state) and there were crawfish and tadpoles everywhere.

I live in a similiar environment, lots of ponds and a river. A few years ago I caught a lot of tadpoles but I can never find them anymore. And I have only seen one crawfish in my neighborhood river once.

When is the best time to be looking for them?
By when I meant what time of year.

If tadpoles or craw fish are around at all they are active all day. They might not always be easy to see. Tadpoles are easiest to find in very shallow still water, often in the shade. Catch them with a net.

Craw fish seem to like water with rough bottoms, and some motion. Tie a bit of meat (the stronger smelling the better, sausage or slim jims work great) to a string and throw it in, you do not need a hook. They will grab it and hang on while you pull them out.

I Love New York
