We live in the Wild Rivers of southern Oregon coast. Our area has just received notice that the salmon fishing season will be severely restricted in the summer! It is devastating to the economy of our small rural area. We depend on tourism!

I want to assure all considered close to the coast south coast Pacific Northwest for the summer holidays, there is much more than salmon here in this beautiful paradise. We have many other wonderful options of how to spend their vacation.

Please do not stay away because of our need to save the salmon for future generations. We have plenty of bottom fish to catch. Nothing is better than Ling Cod! Ling Cod are not on a list of not catch! Have you ever had a meal of sand Toques? Then there are fantastic and Rock Cod and much more! This could be the year that passed the investigation of the fish often ignored. You simply can not ignore the salmon.

If you come in July, peach and blueberry bushes are beginning to produce. Children love to pick blueberries and putting them in his mouth as they go. Coast River Wild Oregon is the home of the Easter lily. We have fantastic garden where you paste a cut in the ground ends up as a bush in a few years! If you have the opportunity visit a local garden tour to see the creative spirits who have created city parks in your own backyard! Connie Winchuck Gardens on Highway 101, would happy to inform you about our gardens. The garden club has created beautiful roadside plantations and our Azalea Park is a magical place.

Elmo Williams, a former Oscar winner, producer of the film is to build a glass chapel by the sea in Azalea Park, in memory of his late wife, Lorraine. I hear the Capella will open this summer. Elmo alone could also be giving one of their very interesting talks about making movies in Hollywood. It's like being there when he describes what a gentleman was Gary Cooper and other stars were demanding. He has funny stories, with many interesting facts about making movies as great as "Tora Tora Tora", "High Noon," "Zorba," "The French Connection" and countless other movies. You can read more about the Elmo on his website.

We have miles of woodland trails. Best of all for easy hike is just after of the House by the River Ludlam Winchuck. You can rent the house Ludlam and camp in the closet! Check out the links below to see the possibilities furnished camping and tourist information.

Contact our local Brookings / Harbor Chamber of Commerce for more information. Always ready to encourage your visit. We know that everyone love of God, as a country as we do!

I want to encourage you not believe the hype on the news that the coast Southern Oregon is closed for fishing. No! Come! Walk our trails, find blueberries, instead of the steel head in a creek at a distance and do not forget to watch the sun on the beach at Harris.

We also have antique shops, bookstores, good, great fresh sushi, a quaint theater, plays in Live, surfing, windsurfing and horse riding! We moved here 10 years ago after taking a vacation here. You want to do the same. It will be difficult to return home! You are very welcome!
