Where to go camping in San Diego?

I’ve never ever been camping but there is always a first time for everything. Where can a first timer like me go camping in San Diego? I’m not looking for anywhere on the beach. I’m more interested in camping inland. Okay thanks for your help!

If you want to camp in the desert, this is the best time to go. Great places for desert camping:

Agua Caliente Regional Park
Anza-Borrego Desert State Park

Non Desert Choices:
One of my favorite places to camp that’s an hour from San Diego is:
Cuyamaca Rancho State Park. This heavily wooded area makes you feel like you’re in Northern California. Enjoy forest, meadows, and creek. You can fish and swim at a lake not too far away.

Hiking and inner tubing down the river.
