Ask any "60's Child" what comes to mind when you mention San Francisco and are certain to say "Haight-Ashbury District. In case of any area of this old city evoke various images of the '60s this area has to be the one to do so. Here the principle of the hippie culture grew by leaps and bounds as kids were selling their wares on flowers busy street, you could smell the incense burning on each corner and tie wild clothes dyed that was so popular at the time.

A walk around the block would show many smoke shops and Eastern leverage points that had names such as "Dreams of Kathmandu," "Love of Ganesha" and "Pipe Dreams". Unfortunately, these relics of the '60s are all but forgotten and have left the scene forever. Haight district today presents a completely new compared to what it was 50 years ago. The area now has with exclusive boutiques, clothing stores at various prices, many thrift shops, and cafes with Internet access modern and an abundance of restaurants that offer great-tasting food from every corner of the continent. The district of Haight-year-old has become very commercial.

A stroll down the avenue Haight reveals the changes that have been made to date and the new clientele that fills the avenue. These new clients range from Neo-punks out for fun, the kids club looking for things to do, Fashionita different over time in their hands, tourists waiting to catch a glimpse of the 60 Long Gone and the ordinary people of all residents feel comfortable here. They may be here to obtain a new body piercing, perhaps to catch a Mexican burrito, maybe you are looking for a CD new music or just have a cup of espresso in the cafe on the corner.

Note that there are two different areas of Haight. Has Higher Haight extending from Masonic to Stanyan. This is the commercial shopping area, while Lower Haight is a more diverse neighborhood. While it shows an alternative style nightlife with bars with names like Mad Dog NOC or NOC and most popular clubs such as the top or Nickie. Now is a magnet for attracting DJs those looking to dance music – record stores or clubs like The Top.

During the day the attitude around the Haight is basically peaceful and it seems that many people are just going around the cafes or bookstores. The area has its share of beggars and tourists. Weekends in the area can get very crowded with buyers in full force during the day and bar attendants roaming around at night. We can notice a lot of homeless people camping near the Golden Gate Park entrance, where they hang around the upper Haight, however, have to walk by them are limited to request a change or give a friendly smile.

If you're a fan of the 60s can only be a little disappointed in your visit here, but if you search you are sure to find many interesting things to do and places to visit while in the Haight-Ashbury district. It's worth the trip.
