Camping in the western U.S.?

So me and my sister is going for a trip this week, and we are driving down from Seattle to Califonia. I want to stay in hotels, but atleast she wants to camp one night, my only fear is the bears! Just wanted to know if there is a lot of attacks in national parks (like the Royal Parks of camping, he would not sleep in the middle of nowhere) and the precautions to take. If we field it would probably be in Oregon or California. we camp or simply sleeping in hotels? PLEASE HELP!

The mountains of California have the bears, but the time to keep food safe in a box to support and maintain your campsite clean, which will have no problem. I've been camping throughout California and have had a bear through my field at once. We follow all our food secured so that there was nothing for him to find. We kept our distance and watched, enjoying the opportunity to see some wildlife on our way. Most bears prefer to avoid an encounter with human beings had the chance. The only attack if surprised, you have food they like, or a sow protecting their pups. Most probable is that the food situation. So keep your food safe (including toiletries such as toothpaste, deodorant, everything that smells good). California has so many wonderful camping areas would not let a little afraid of the bears wrong to ruin the opportunity to experience it. There are also plenty of camping areas where bears are not a problem, such as camps near the coast and in the coastal mountains. The bears are more common in the Cascades and Sierra Nevada.
