Camping Vancouver Island Bc
Does anyone know of great campgrounds (or remote campsite) near courtenay or comox on Vancouver island, BC?
What i call “great” means “beautiful location” (on the beach or in the forest), quiet with remote areas (i hate camping a couple of feet from the other campers) and if possible not too many people:)
You sound like you would appreciate the parks run by the provincial government more. They are generally more remote, and back to nature, with lots of trees. Very different than private sites, that are more crowded, BUT may offer more services. Nature verses modern life is the trade off. Miracle Beach is about 20 km, or 15 minutes north of Courtney/Comox.
Attached is the BC Parks description and reservations. Also the list to find a park anywhere in BC.
If that is booked, my second recommendation is Puntledge RV park. It is a new campground run by the local aboriginal tribe. It is a great site, at the edge of town, yet you would never guess you are that close. However, it is exactly what you describe as what you don’t want, an open Field that highlights how close you are to the next campers. Miracle Beach is actually a lot bigger, but you may not be able to tell that once you drive in and get to your campsite.
