Camping With Children Tips

Does anyone have any helpful tips for teaching children to ride?

I’m talking about little rhymes or something easy to remember to help their riding. This is my 2nd year teaching children in a summer riding camp and I found last year that they remember things well when you associate them with something else. For example- Don’t drop your ice cream cones! (when talking about proper hand position) or don’t spill the water (head position). I find you can just say ice cream! or water! and they will fix the problem. Does anyone have anymore of those??

Besides the ones you’ve said-

Birdies!:
For holding the reins. The reins are your birds. Hold the reins to tight and the birds can’t breathe. Too loose, and your birds will fly away.

Point to the sky!:
To keep their heels down and toes up.

Close the door!:
Reminds them that their should not be any air between the saddle and their knees.

I know I know one for shoulders back, but I think of it. I’ll edit if I remember. Hope I helped!
