Wilderness areas are rich concentrated in the Pacific Northwest and the two largest areas of land are in Idaho, a couple of hundred miles southeast of the border Washington. Many of the hydroelectric dams in the state of Washington allow visitors access to the facility, including Grand Coulee, Bonneville, Rocky Reach, Gorge, Diablo, and Ross dams. Washington state receives 83.2% of its energy needs from hydropower and the man who comes from many artificial lakes through the arrival of the dams. For example, the Grand Coulee Dam, which becomes one of the largest hydroelectric facility in the world, is part of a 100,059 hectare area National Recreation that sports than 130 miles long, the lake the name of Franklin D. Roosevelt. This part of the state has a rich history with the activities of the Company Hudson's Bay Trading Company and the Northwest. Roosevelt Lake is the largest recreational property around Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area and offers visitors the thrill of sailing, fishing, swimming, camping, canoeing and visiting historic Fort Spokane.

San Juan Islands are a series of 457 islands in a section of 750 square miles of water in the northwestern part of the state. The islands are surrounded by water, but only 200 of the islands are actually the name and only four to receive the ferry service including San Juan, Orcas, Shaw and Lopez. Only 20 years ago from the islands to maintain themselves, in a sense. From then the place has become a magnet for vacation retreats and summer vacations. During the summer months the current housing capacity is not sufficient to treat all those who wish to remain in the islands. One of the popular activities in the San Juan Islands is whale watching. On Orcas Island there's even a 2407-foot high mountain called Mount Constitution in Moran State Park is located.
