Taxes: Day camp 2008 summer tax deductible?
It is my understanding of Internet research that the costs of camp day are deductible. Last year my daughter attended a camp day through our local park district during the day when I worked. They I do not get their tax identification number of the Fed, and I say it is a summer program, no daycare, and are not a child care provider license. (Nor they are half the poeple who are paid to monitor children, so I really do not think that comes into play here.) I'm in Illinois. This is IRS Publication 503: "The cost of sending your child to a camera fell Mpay be a work related expenses even if the camp specializes in a particular activity, such as computers or soccer. "dwell no more on that, that's where I'm looking for some guidance. The rest of the year at school during most of the day and then in a program after school care.
If the purpose of day camp is to educate or entertain your child would not be deductible. As Day Camp you say can be considered child care. Yet Pub. 503 also says that a focus of caring for more than six children should be license (meet all state requirements). The problem is that you are charged with meeting all other requirements for child care. Since you need to file a paper return because of the care provider's refusal to give a TID #. I would be willing to explain what they do with children on other occasions.
