North Vancouver Camping
My gf and I are going on a trip to Drumheller from Van. Should we return on #3 or?
My gf and I are going on a trip this summer from Vancouver to Drumheller. We’re going from Vancouver through Kamloops to Banff, Jasper then to Drumheller. My question is, should we take the North approach through Banff from Drumheller back to Vancouver or take the south approach and go on the #3 through the Kootenays? We don’t care about driving time, but which is prettier and more worth it. We have three nights between Drumheller and Vancouver for camping.
Much less traffic (especially trucks) on #3. It’s a winding 2 lane road most of the way. Either way has some great scenery but mountains are more spectacular on #1. You might consider going south to #3 thru Invermere on #97 (via Banff) rather than #22 to the #3 That way you could visit Radium hot springs too. Also # 3 passes within minutes of the US border so you could also visit the US on your way. Bon voyage.
