Camping in Oregon, not a camp site?

Some friends and I wanted to go camping for spring break in late March. not want to be surrounded by a bunch of people at a campsite and all kind of wanted to go somewhere where we were in the woods, camping natural. Do you know of any good places in Oregon that are a 10 hour drive from Portland? I wanted a place for water would not freeze all day.
