Good campsites in England and Wales?

I'm hoping to go camping when my German friend visited me this summer (July-August) and wondered where is a good place to go. I live in Gloucester (south-west/midlands) and do not want to go too far (Cornwall is the furthest I really want to go). I can not drive so it must be somewhere I can travel by train, and there must be enough around the camping area to amuse us for a week or more without having to drive the bus, but is fine). We both like walking, the beach, etc. but none of us are really in bars or clubs. Any suggestions? I'm 19and she is 18 so they are old enough to go alone!

Forest of Dean, a Forestry Commission Camping. No car can be a hadicap there though, but if you like walking is a beautiful country place we stayed at a nice place Porlock in year one (I think his name Burrowhayes Farm), and another in Minehead. Can you get to the NEC, Birmingham some time in the week beginning on Tuesday 17 February? Is Boating, Camping and Caravan Show last until the afternoon of Sunday, and there are plenty of stands with information on camp sites (including the Camping Club of Gt. Britain) to bring their own equipment and others in which everything is prepared for you. There used to be a camp site Brean, too, if Weston interests you and probably around Portishead and Clevedon Always representatives sites in northern Europe, too. In addition, the opportunity to pick up some extra if needed. Have you seen the stores that are so light that you can wear on your shoulder and develop themselves? If you can not get to the NEC are planning to go on the first day, the 17 and could pick up some brochures for you if it helps.
