Family Camping Vacations

Holidays for families of six hours or less in Indianapolis, IN?
I have two sons, 10 and 8 years. of age. We'd like to plan a family holiday in the first part of August. I'd rather drive to Indianapolis IN, 6 hours or less. I am in favor of the beaches, or just about anything (except camping!), But would prefer stay away from the theme parks. We had planned to stay six days, so a lot of activities to keep everyone happy. In addition, we are a multiracial couple, preferring a welcoming place, or at least tolerant of that. We have been in places in southern Indiana, and made them feel very unwelcome what we would like avoid if possible … lol. Affordability is also a good keyword … lol. Thanks for all your help!
I know you said you would like to stay away theme parks … but the Sandusky / Vermilion, Ohio area might be a good option .. You can take the ferry to South Bass Island (Put in Bay) for the day … and rent a golf cart to get around the island and see the different beaches that have … or stay in one of three hotels in Sandusky water .. The boys and … (Kalahari, Great Wolf Lodge and Castaway Bay) … That would take a whole day running around the hotel … Or there are many go cart, mini golf … and sights foolish to stop there .. And, as a last resort .. A day at Cedar Point would be a fun time .. Good luck!
