Dont understand a line in eclipse (3rd twilight book)?

on page 509, the morning after bella edward and jacob camped out in the tent, jacob was complaining about not getting any sleep and he asks edward if it made his top 10 best nights and edward said,
‘possibly. but if i had been able to take you place last night, it would not have made the top ten of the best nights of my life.’
i dont know if im just being really stupid but i dont know what he means here.
thats what i thought, but edward said it Wouldnt be one of the BEST nights

I talked about this b4 with my friends LOL.
It means that even though Jacob gained the chance to spend one night nuzzeled next to bella, Edward had had so much more nights with her, and Jacob’s night didn’t beat ten of the several nights Edward has had with her.
